Traumatised

A picture says a thousand words. Well, these certainly do. They are of our house - the one we rented out. The tenant knew we were visiting to check on the place. You'd have thought she could have thrown the duvet cover over the bed and picked up her dirty knickers from the floor. You're getting the before and after versions. You can see me in the bedroom mirror. I am crying.

  1. Your heartbreak is so obvious in that reflection - I am in tears just looking at the photos xxx

  2. OH, Lynne. I feel the anguish with you. Hopefully it will soon be back to its former glory. This is the problem with rentals. Not everyone is as considerate or home-loving as we are. Rest assured, this woman will get her comeuppance.

  3. What's wrong with people? Even in hotels I make the bed before leaving. I'd be mortified to leave a place like that, even if I'm a bit less than tidy in my own home.

    1. Karen, we took her in when she had nothing. Our place was set up as a holiday home so she had everything she needed. It's weird but it's not the mess and damage that is so upsetting. It's the fact that she could do this to us after all the kindness we showed her.

  4. I'm not surprised you are traumatised - how can people be like this?
You two lovely people do not deserve this - sending love and hugs xxxxxxx

  5. You poor things. And what disgraceful tennants. I hope you have a deposit from them that you can confiscate?

    1. The deposit wouldn't touch what we have to pay out, Frances. Quotes of £6,000 so far.

  6. Some people just like to take advantage of other people's kindness, Lynne. She'll move on to someone else and do the same to them now. At least she's not your problem anymore x

  7. I have known people who live like this. Wealthy 'professionals' with potentially beautiful homes. Some people have no appreciation for the space they live in, whether they own it or not. So sorry your tenant was one of these.

  8. I'm shocked beyond belief. Could you get the local papers in, and local television to shame her and try and rustle up some help? Wish I lived in the area, I'd be there with my mop and bucket. So sad for you.
